British
Grand Prix Race report
Silverstone (GB) July 19th 2003
Another
week end full of satisfaction for Coloni Motorsport ended at Silverstone,
seventh round of the F.I.A. F.3000 Championship, thanks to the fourth
place of Ricardo Sperafico, which allows the BMW-WilliamsF1 tester
to get other precious points for the drivers standings.
The
Brazilian, after a small start trouble, drove a good race, constantly
attacking the third position of Tonio Liuzzi, but the features of
the British circuit didnt helped certainly Sperafico: in fact,
following closely another car, the single-seater suffers a big downforce
reduction, which instead is needed on the fast corners of Silverstone,
causing precocious front tyres wear too.
Ricardo
tried however to endanger Liuzzis third place, showing one
more time his driving skills and the steadiness of his performances:
in the end the Brazilian finished fourth, getting five points and
so jumping to position 4 in drivers standings, only seven points
off the second place.
Zsolt
Baumgartner, who already started the countdown to his first test
on JordanF1 single-seater right here at Silverstone, finished eleventh
after a good try on the demanding British track. The Coloni Motorsport
Hungarian driver is looking forward with impatience to the next
race, the German GP, when he will carry out the Friday morning test
for the JordanF1.
Coloni Motorsport is now working for the next round at Hockenheim,
race which the Italian team will face with confidence: in 2002 in
fact, year of the debut of the new German Grand Prix track, Coloni
dominated both qualifying and race.
