Report Brno, Round 17 & 18
Jan
Charouz paid the price for not the best qualifying on the home ground
at Brno and just missed the points in both races where he managed
to overtake a lot of competitors.
The
penultimate round of the ADAC Formula BMW championship took place
in Brno, Czech Republic. However, the home ground did not represent
any advantage to the trio of the Czech drivers because all teams
had tested there. Charouz finished 16th in the both qualifying sessions
and was a bit disappointed but he was still best of the home drivers.
Masaryk Circuit is quite tricky place to overtake but Jan showed
in both races that it is possible to do it. He finished 12th in
the first race and was fighting very hard for points in the second
one but lost it in the last corner.
Jan Charouz: "It is a shame that qualifying again
let me down. The car felt okay but the lap time was not there. The
first race went okay despite the balance of the car was not ideal.
It was much better on Sunday but I had some strange problems with
the engine. I was many times in the slipstream but I was not able
to overtake and the competitors even pulled away! I think that could
have finished easily in the top ten because I overtook many rivals
in the technical parts of the track but lost on the straights."

Report Hockenheim, Round 19 & 20
Jan
Charouz fought hard in the last races of the season at Hockenheim
but was unable to score any point. He scored total three points
during the season, which means 21st position overall.
The
last races of the season symbolically reflected the picture from
the whole season - Charouz was not happy with the qualifying performance
but he showed that he is a real fighter and was able to make up
a lot of places in the races. Wet qualifying sessions did not help
Charouz to find the rhythm and the Czech driver finished in low
20th and 18th respectively. Charouz was as usual quick in the races
and managed to improve his position but even with maximum effort
was not able to score points. He finished 12th in the first race
and had to retire from the second after a collision.
Jan
Charouz: "I had expected a bit better weekend here especially
as I had done very well in the season opener there. Unfortunately,
the wet qualifying did not suit me and I ended too far back. I tried
very hard to improve my position and I moved up a lot of places
during the races but it was not enough. I think the first race was
quite okay but one of my competitors closed the door in the second
and I had to retire after the collision. Overall, I think that we
have been quite competitive in the races during the whole season
but struggled in the qualifying. However, it is difficult to practice
because there are big testing restrictions during the season."
