Following
on from a quite successful test in Jerez, some weeks ago, Doornbos
and Team Arden were back in action at Barcellona. The Dutch completed
a two day test in preparation of the upcoming first race of the
FIA F3000 season which will be held in Imola (Italy) next week.
Robert
Doornbos on his first visit to the Circuit put in another strong
performance to finish the test third quickest with a time of 1:31:167.
For both days Robert was put his car on top 3 positions in order
to achieve the necessary experience and knowledge of the track and
the car itself. Together with his team Arden, Robert had programmed
some long run with some pit stop simulations.
The
two day test have shown a good physical preparation of Robert who
revealed to be in a perfect shape.
Robert:
"We have ended a very positive two day test in Barcellona.
Together with my team, I have set the third quickest time, during
both days, and we have been constantly 2nd and 3rd. I clocked a
fastest time only 1 tenth slower than my team mate Vitantonio; so
I'm confident for the race and the season itself. This is my first
visit to the circuit and I am pleased I learnt it quickly. We managed
to complete a qualifying simulation, practice starts and some race
set-up work and I was very pleased to set a good time. From my physical
point of view I have to be very happy, because I didn't suffer any
problem. I think that the most important thing is to be strong in
ones mind, and I feel so, now"
Christian
Horner commented, "We have now completed our preparation
for the first race at Imola for which I think we are well prepared.
Both drivers have done an excellent job here at Barcelona and Tonio
has made a good recovery after his accident yesterday morning. Considering
it was Robert's first time at this Circuit, he showed immediate
pace and looked competitive throughout the two days."
