This
week Borja Garcia had a very hard testing program, which included
two test days with his Spanish F3 team Racing Engineering and two
testing days with the Italian F3 Euro Series squad Team Ghinzani.
During four consecutive days of testing, the young Spanish racer
drove close to 1,500 km. The Spanish F3 is already used to Borja
Garcia marking the fastest lap times, but on Wednesday he impressed
with an excellent performance driving the Euro Series Formula 3.
Borja Garcia was the fastest in both Wednesday sessions and eager
to get into the Ghinzani car again on Friday, when he marked the
eighth fastest time in the morning session as well as in the afternoon
session.
After
proving his qualities in a field of very highly rated and experienced
drivers on Wednesday, Borja Garcia knew that the Friday test sessions
with Team Ghinzani will be hard work. While the others could look
back onto another day of testing on the Circuit of Valencia, where
track conditions change from day to day, Borja Garcia switched to
the Toyota powered Spanish F3 in Albacete on Thursday and marked
the fastest times. Back in Valencia Borja was eager to underline
his talent during the official F3 Euro Series test day he had been
invited to by the Italian Team Ghinzani.
The
morning session saw Borja Garcia in eighth position and his engineer,
Miguel Angel Galvez, explained, Today the track conditions
were different from Wednesday. We were not here yesterday and couldnt
adjust the set up during three entire days like the rest of the
field. Nevertheless Borja improved his lap times and jumped into
eighth position in the morning when the new tires were mounted.
In the afternoon we were happier with the car, but also tried out
some new things.
Borja
Garcia, after this intense testing program is not tired at all
and stated, Honestly, the more I can drive a race car the
happier I am. And this week I could really drive a lot! In regards
to today I have to say that the track was completely different from
Wednesday so we had to start from the very beginning again. I am
happy with some things we changed on the car, but I we would have
needed more time. We also tried out some new things on the car to
see their effect on the lap times. I would say that today we were
not so much hunting for the fastest lap time but tried to understand
this car perfectly. I did the eighth lap time, but I guess I already
showed what I am able to on Wednesday.
Alfonso
de Orleans-Borbon, Borja Garcias manager, announced, Borja
once again has shown everyone that he is consistently on top even
after close to 1,500km of testing over four days. This is a lot
but he really is the happiest person when he can be behind a steering
wheel. I am impressed by his will to be fast and his abilities to
switch between the two cars without losing out in any session. I
am sure that he will have a great future.
