19-year-old
Australian Formula 3 driver Karl Reindler will head to the desert
of Bahrain this December, to tackle some of the worlds best
Formula 3 drivers in the inaugural Bahrain Formula 3 Super Prix.
Reindler will join up with the Swiss Racing Team for the Bahrain
event, which will place the recently crowned Australian Formula
3 Champion up against some of the best Formula 3 competitors from
Europe, Asia and South America in what will be the final F3 showdown
for 2004.
It
will be the first time that Reindler has competed outside of Australia
or New Zealand in his short career, a tantalising prospect for the
young West Australian who has his eyes firmly set on Formula One.
The
event will be a good chance to Reindler to measure himself against
the best worldwide F3 competitors, the capacity 32 car entry list
a virtual whos who of 2004 Formula 3 winners.
British
F3 champion Nelson Piquet Jr, Italian Champion Matteo Cressoni,
F3 Euro series winner Jamie Green and champions from Japan and Spain
will join their Australian counterpart at the event, which is set
to become the unofficial world cup of F3 racing.
Provided
we can put the budget together for 2005, it will be a great chance
to get an idea of what the competition is all about and an excellent
opportunity to meet some of the other Formula 3 teams, commented
the Australian Champion.
Its
going to be a big learning curve racing against the best Formula3
teams and drivers in the business but it will be a valuable experience
and more seat time which is very important.
We
have already had a number of enquiries after wrapping up the championship
at Indy, and Im really excited about this event and the chance
Swiss Racing Team has given me.
The
Bahrain Super Prix could prove to be one of the most challenging
F3 races of the season, with teams and drivers completing a 10-lap
opening sprint before a demanding 20 lap final on the 5.44km Grand
Prix circuit.
I
am looking forward to seeing the circuit. I have been working hard
on my fitness of late, because it looks to be a long and very physically
demanding circuit. The races are quite long as well, which will
be an added challenge. he said.
After
working with Reindler all season en route to the Australian Championship,
team BRM owner Bronte Rundle was delighted that the Swiss Racing
deal could be put together for the Bahrain event.
Its
going to be a fantastic opportunity for Karl to run on a world stage,
commented Rundle. We know that Karl will go over there and
give his absolute best. If he does that he should be in with a chance
at a really good result up against some of the best in Formula 3,
he said.
The
2004 Bahrain F3 Super Prix will be run on December 9th and 10th.
